The
Upper Midwest High School Elite League announced that it will once again hold a
training camp at Brainerd Civic Arena.
The
camp is scheduled for Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
All
Elite League players will be outfitted with Bauer/Nike equipment at the camp.
The
first week of the regular season will feauture games
Sept. 8-9 at
First-round
picks
Former
Elite League star Ryan McDonagh (Cretin-Derham Hall H.S./Team Southeast), who tallied 16 points
during the 2006 Elite League season, was selected 12th overall in the first
round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
Later
in the first round,
McDonagh, the 2007 Mr. Hockey Award winner, is headed to play
at the
Advanced
17 stars
The
roster for the Advanced 17 players selected to go to the USA Hockey National
Festival in
Nine
of the 13 forwards have played in the league. In addition, all six defenseman
and both goaltenders are also Elite League alumni.
