Dani Cameranesi of Blake named 2013 Ms. Hockey

Dani Cameranesi, a senior forward on The Blake School girls’ hockey team was named the winner of the 18th annual Ms. Hockey Award by Let’s Play Hockey newspaper today at the annual Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet. The award, presented to the top girls’ high school hockey player in Minnesota, is based on the following criteria: academics, community/extracurricular activities, citizenship, coachability and, of course, on-ice performance.

Considered one of the top players in the nation in her age group, Dani Cameranesi led the Bears to their fourth Class A state championship with scoring totals of 57-38—95 in 27 games this season, good for second in the state.

2013 Ms. Hockey finalists announced

The five finalists for the 18th annual Ms. Hockey Award are Dani Cameranesi of Blake, Kate Flug of Roseville, Paige Haley of Red Wing, Sidney Morin of Minnetonka and Kate Schipper of Breck.

Together, the finalists would be a formidable starting lineup with Cameranesi, Flug and Schipper at forward and Haley and Morin on the blue line. Each of the finalists have committed to a WCHA school next season, including four future Golden Gophers.

Let’s Play Hockey has announced the 10 semifinalists for the 2013 Ms. Hockey Award and the Senior Goalie of the Year Award, presented to the top senior girls’ high school hockey player and goalie in Minnesota, respectively.
